The best cashback portals in 2026, ranked by how they pay

Most "best cashback portal" lists rank the same way: whoever's paying the most today wins. Ours doesn't - the shopping portals actually worth an account (sites that pay you for starting a purchase there) are TopCashback, BeFrugal, and Rakuten for cashback, plus Capital One Shopping and the airline portals if you want gift cards or miles instead. The best cashback portals: the tier-one workhorses

• TopCashback - covers more stores than any other portal named in this post, and it tops the field often enough that if you're only going to keep one account, this is usually it. No minimum to cash out via PayPal, Venmo, or ACH (a few gift-card options do carry one), and PayPal payments typically land in 1 to 2 business days once you request them.
• BeFrugal - covers fewer stores than TopCashback, but on the stores it does list, it's at or tied for the top rate on roughly half of them. It also comes with a 125% price-match guarantee if you find a higher rate elsewhere within 24 hours (capped at $25 per transaction), and payouts about as fast as they get: a cent minimum for PayPal or direct deposit, and most payouts go out the next business day after you request them. • Rakuten - the one most people have already heard of, and for good reason: mainstream stores, in-store cashback through a linked card, and the option to take Amex points instead of cash. The trade-off is quarterly payouts.

The specialists worth knowing

• Capital One Shopping - free, no Capital One account or card needed, and it doubles as a coupon-tester and price-tracker while it's at it. The catch: it pays in gift cards, not cash.
• The mileage portals - if you'd rather earn a specific airline's miles than cash, the airline shopping portals are their own category, and the one to join is whichever program's miles you'll actually redeem (several of them share a platform underneath).

Why you still shouldn't marry one

None of the three above wins on every purchase, and that's actually the point: TopCashback and BeFrugal are worth an account because they clear a high bar often, and Rakuten because of its mainstream store list and the Amex points option, not because any single one always leads. Rakuten sits closer to the middle on rate, so keep it for the mainstream store list, not the top rate. Once you have those accounts, the routine is short:

1. Check before you check out. Look up the store and see which portal leads today, rather than defaulting to whichever one you signed up for first. It takes about ten seconds.
2. Join a new portal only when the gap pays for it. If the leader is a portal you don't have an account with, the extra login is worth it on a big purchase, not on a few cents.
3. Set an alert on a purchase that can wait. Find the store and set an alert, and the email finds you when its rate moves.
